      DescriptionAnti-CAPZIP Antibody
      Alternate Names
      • RCSD domain containing 1
      • capZ-interacting protein
      • Protein kinase substrate CapZIP
      • protein kinase substrate MK2S4
      • RCSD domain-containing protein 1
Background InformationCAPZIP (CapZ-interacting protein) is highly expressed in immune cells and muscle and uniquely interacts with CapZ, an F-actin capping protein, in splenocytes. Phosphorylation of CAPZIP is thought to regulate CapZ ability to remodel actin filament assembly. CAPZIP may also contain a CPI (capping protein interaction) motif that seems to restrict capping protein to a low-affinity, filament-binding conformation.

UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: Stress-induced phosphorylation of CAPZIP may regulate the ability of F-actin-capping protein to remodel actin filament assembly.

SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Interacts with CAPZA2 and CAPZB.

TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Highly expressed in skeletal muscle and more weakly in cardiac muscle. Also expressed in several lymphoid organs, including spleen, thymus, peripheral blood leukocytes, lymph node and bone marrow.

POST-TRANSLATIONAL MODIFICATION: Dephosphorylation results in its dissociation from CAPZA2.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Contains 1 RCSD domain.

SEQUENCE CAUTION: The sequence CAB70910.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
Molecular Weight~70 kDa observed. The native form of CAPZIP runs anomalously, with a molecular mass of 70 kDa (much slower than its real molecular mass). The 47 kDa band may be non-specific, a splice variant or a degradation product. (Eyers, C.E., et al. (2005). Biochem J. 389(1):127-135.). An uncharacterized band appears at ~18 kDa.
