It is widely expressed in different regions of fetal and the adult brain. Ligand binding to GluR2 induces a conformation change in the receptor, which triggers signaling to modulate the activity of down-stream effectors, mainly via the inhibition of adenylate cyclase activity. Activation of mGluR2 leads to inhibition of glutamate release at the synaptic junction
