Overview

A platinum-based cisplatin analogue (cis-{Pt(NH3)2}2+) conjugated to a mitochondria-penetrating peptide that localizes to mitochondria to induce mitochondrial DNA damage in ovarian cancer cells, but has minimal effect on normal cells. Shown to be effective even in cisplatin-resistant A2780CP70 cells (IC50 = 5.0 µM). Has a much lower resistance factor when compared to cisplatin (0.7 vs 8.7). Exhibits reduced toxicity compared to cisplatin. Diminishes the amplification of the mitochondrial, but not the nuclear DNA segment. Shown to cause a statistically significant reduction in the amplification of the mitochondrial but not nuclear DNA segment, and increases reactive oxygen species (ROS) product.

Please note that the molecular weight for this compound is batch-specific due to variable water content.
