Description
OverviewA biologically active neuropeptide that has been shown to inhibit secretion of somatostatin, insulin, and pancreatic polypeptide. Also induces repolarization and reduces free Ca2+ due to interference with voltage-activated Ca2+ channels. Inhibits ω-conotoxin GVIA-sensitive Ca2+ channels in parasympathetic neurons. Reported to have an inhibitory role in transmission of nociceptive information.
