The MQuant® Silicate (Silicic Acid) test (formally MColortest®) can be used for the determination of silicate in e.g.:
  • Groundwater, surface water, and seawater
  • Drinking water and mineral water
  • Industrial and process water
  • Boiler water and boiler feed water
  • Wastewater and percolating water

Method
In sulfuric solution silicate ions react with molybdate ions to form a yellow heteropoly acid. This is reduced to silicomolybdenum blue. The silicate concentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the color of the measurement solution with the color fields of a color disk. The unique brilliance of the print and their fine color graduation allow precise analyses, even at the lower end of the concentration range.
Due to the long test tubes a sensitive measurement range can be covered.
Using the refill pack 1.18323 containing all the reagents, the original test kit can be used for a very long time, making it a particularly economical and ecological system. 

Application

Silicate (Silicic Acid) Test Kit, colorimetric can be used for:
  • Quantifying silicase production by silicolytic bacteria using different substrates.
  • Determining silicic acid concentration in e-waste.
  • Measuring the concentration of dissolved silica (SiO2) in fertilizer wastewater.
