DescriptionAnti-IGF-II Antibody, clone S1F2
Background InformationHuman Insulin-like Growth Factor II (IGFII) contains 67 amino acids and shares similar structural features with IGFI, including a 62% sequence homology. In human plasma, IGFI and IGFII are associated with IGF-binding proteins that transport the polypeptides and partially regulate their actions in vivo. In addition to the insulin receptor, IGFII binds to two forms of IGF receptors, both of which are widely distributed in different tissues and cultured cells. IGFII is mitogenic for a variety of cultured cells, including mouse 3T3 cells,12 normal rat kidney cells, human or chicken fibroblasts and MCF-7 human breast carcinoma cells.

Applications
ApplicationDetect IGF-II using this Anti-IGF-II Antibody, clone S1F2 validated for use in ELISA, IP, IC, NEUT & WB.
Key Applications
  • ELISA
  • Immunoprecipitation
  • Immunocytochemistry
  • Neutralizing
  • Western Blotting
Application NotesNeutralization: 10 μg/mL of a previous lot inhibited the stimulatory effects of IGF-II (10 ng/mL) on DNA synthesis in chicken embryo fibroblasts. Cell viability was assessed using an ATP endpoint assay (ATPLiteÔ-M, Packard Instruments). Previous lots of antibody were tested to inhibit IGF-II-dependent incorporation of [3H]-thymidine

Species Reactivity
  • Human
  • Rat
Species Reactivity NoteRecognizes rat and human IGF-II. Less than 10% cross-reactivity to human IGF-I (Tanaka, H, 1989; Suzuki, T, 1989).
Antibody TypeMonoclonal Antibody
Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThis gene encodes a member of the insulin family of polypeptide growth factors that is involved in development and growth. It is an imprinted gene and is expressed only from the paternally inherited allele. It is a candidate gene for eating disorders. There is a read-through, INS-IGF2, which aligns to this gene at the 3' region and to the upstream INS gene at the 5' region. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
