      A selective α1A adrenoceptor antagonist that has preferential selectivity for the α1A adrenoceptor in the prostate versus the α1B adrenoceptor in the blood vessels (pKi values are 9.97, 9.64 and 8.86 for α1A, α1B and α1D subtypes respectively). Used for treatment of difficult urination, a common symptom of enlarged prostate. Has negligible effect on arterial blood pressure in vivo.
