      • RB1-inducible coiled-coil protein 1
      • FAK family kinase-interacting protein of 200 kDa
Background InformationRB1-inducible coiled-coil protein 1 (UniProt: Q8TDY2; also known as FAK family kinase-interacting protein of 200 kDa, FIP200) is encoded by the RB1CC1 (also known as KIAA0203; RBICC) gene (Gene ID: 9821) in human. FIP200 plays an important role in several biological pathways including cell proliferation and autophagy. It regulates early and late events of autophagosome formation through direct interaction with Atg16L1. FIP200 expression has been shown in cytoplasm and in the nucleus. It serves as a positive regulator of the NF-kB and mTOR signaling. It also functions as a negative factor in FAK-Erk1/2 signaling pathway. It is reported to form a complex with p53 and/or hSNF5 and the large protein complex in mammalian cells and serves as a strong activator of retinoblastoma 1 (RB1), p16, and p21 promoters. The nuclear FIP200 is shown to enhance the RB1 pathway globally and behave as a tumor suppressor in some human malignancies. Its expression levels correlate well with those of RB1 in cancer cell lines and higher expression has been shown in human musculoskeletal and cultured osteosarcoma cells. Clone N1-8 is highly suited for immunohistochemistry analysis and it recognizes an epitope within amino acids 255-271. (Ref.: Hama, Y., et al. (2012). PLoS ONE 7(3); e32052).
