Revision01-February-2012 RFH
SynonymsN-(2-Deoxy-α,β-D-glucopyranose-2-)-N²-acetyl-S-nitroso-D,L-penicillaminamide
DescriptionA nitric oxide donor that exhibits greater stability than SNAP in aqueous medium, in both the presence and absence of EDTA. The half life of Glyco-SNAP-2 in aqueous medium is 27.4 h at room temperature, in the absence of EDTA, compared to 10.3 h for SNAP. The compound consists of a S-nitroso-N-acetylpencilamine moiety, which acts as a NO-donor, and a sugar fragment, which provides the desired hydrophobicity.
