Control
  • CONTROL ANTIGEN: Included free of charge with the antibody is 120 μg of control antigen (lyophilized powder in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 5% sucrose and 0.025% sodium azide). The stock solution of the antigen can be made up using 100 μL of sterile deionized water. For positive control, in Western blot using 20 ng of protein per lane (minigel). For negative control, preincubate 3-5 μg of fusion protein with 1 μg of antibody for one hour at room temperature. Optimal concentrations must be determined by the end user.
PresentationAffinity purified immunoglobulin. Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% BSA, 5% sucrose as a stabilizer and 0.025% sodium azide as a preservative. Reconstitute with 200 mL of sterile deionized water. Centrifuge antibody preparation before use (10,000 xg for 5 min).

Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryPotassium channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. This member contains six membrane-spanning domains with a shaker-type repeat in the fourth segment. It belongs to the delayed rectifier class, members of which allow nerve cells to efficiently repolarize following an action potential. It plays an essential role in T-cell proliferation and activation. This gene appears to be intronless and it is clustered together with KCNA2 and KCNA10 genes on chromosome 1.

UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: SwissProt: P22001 # Mediates the voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a potassium-selective channel through which potassium ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient.
SIZE: 523 amino acids; 58304 Da
SUBUNIT: Heterotetramer of potassium channel proteins. Binds PDZ domains of DLG1, DLG2 and DLG4 (By similarity).
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
DOMAIN: SwissProt: P22001 The N-terminus may be important in determining the rate of inactivation of the channel while the tail may play a role in modulation of channel activity and/or targeting of the channel to specific subcellular compartments. & The segment S4 is probably the voltage-sensor and is characterized by a series of positively charged amino acids at every third position.
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the potassium channel family. A (Shaker) subfamily.
