DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody supplied as undiluted serum. Recognizes the latent and active forms of nicastrin.
BackgroundNicastrin is a transmembrane glycoprotein that forms high molecular weight complexes with presensilin 1 and presensilin 2. It binds carboxy-terminal derivatives of beta-amyloid precursor protein (βAPP), and modulates the production of the amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) from these derivatives. Deposits of this amyloid beta-peptide form the amyloid plaques that characterize Alzheimer's disease.
