BackgroundKITLG is a pleiotropic factor that acts in utero in germ cell and neural cell development, and hematopoiesis, characterstics which may reflect a role in cell migration. In adults, it functions pleiotropically, while mostly noted for its continued requirement in hematopoiesis.
