Overview

This product has been discontinued.

Recombinant, human PlGF-1 (a 131 amino acid splice variant of PlGF) expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. A dimeric glycoprotein with a high degree of sequence homology to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Has been shown to antagonize VEGF-induced angiogenesis and tumor growth by the formation of functionally inactive PIGF-1/VEGF heterodimers. Forms a homodimer with some degree of heterogeneity due to differential glycosylation. Has also been shown to form a biologically active heterodimer with VEGF. Binds immobilized rh-sFlt-1 (100 ng/ml) in the range of 0.1-10 ng/ml.

DescriptionRecombinant, human PlGF-1 (a 131 amino acid splice variant of PlGF) expressed in S. frugiperda insect cells. Acts only as a weak mitogen for some endothelial cell types, but functions as a potent chemotactic agent for monocytes. Has been reported to be angiogenic in the CAM and rabbit cornea assays. Forms a homodimer with some degree of heterogeneity due to differential glycosylation. Has also been shown to form a biologically active heterodimer with VEGF. FLT-1 (VEGFR1) has been shown to be a high-affinity receptor for PIGF in several primary cell types; however, PIGF does not bind to KDR/flk-1 (VEGFR2). Binds immobilized rh-sFlt-1 (100 ng/ml) in the range of 0.1-10 ng/ml.
