      Description
OverviewN-terminal active peptide fragment of the native hormone that functions as a regulatory factor in the homeostatic control of Ca2+ and phosphate metabolism. Regulates Ca2+ and phosphate flux across cellular membranes in bone and kidney, resulting in increased serum Ca2+ levels. Increases the activity of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Increases tubular reabsorption of Ca2+ and stimulates renal hydroxylation of 25-(OH)-Vitamin D3 to 1,25-(OH)2-Vitamin D3. Increases the production of inhibitory IGF binding protein 4 in bone cells.
