DescriptionSMC™ Human Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) High Sensitivity Immunoassay Kit
OverviewThe SMC™ Human cTnI High Sensitivity Immunoassay Kit contains all reagents required to perform the assay. This assay takes advantage of a standard immunoassay workflow configured in a standard plate format. Assay protocols are similar to existing sandwich ELISA methods with two key differences: 1) Elution buffer disrupts the sandwich, separating the labeled detection antibody for quantification. 2) The Erenna® and SMCxPRO™ immunoassay systems detect analytes using Single Molecule Counting (SMC™) technology.
Background InformationTroponin I is one of three subunits of Troponin integral to skeletal and cardiac muscle contraction. Only one tissue specific isoform of troponin I is present in cardiac muscle tissue and is known as cardiac troponin I (cTnI). Increased levels of cTnI are a specific indicator of heart damage, most critically myocardial infarction, as molecules are released into the blood with injury to the heart. They are also increased in patients with heart failure, inflammatory conditions such as myocarditis or disorders like cardiac amyloidosis. Historically, it was thought that cTnI was only released when there was cardiac injury. However, with the development of the SMC™ cTnI high sensitivity assay, it was found that cTnI was present in the circulation of healthy individuals which allowed for the elucidation of the clinical significance of cTnI.

      Applications
ApplicationThe sensitivity of the Single Molecule Counting (SMC™) technology gives the SMC™ Human Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) High Sensitivity Immunoassay Kit unparalleled performance in the quantification of cTnI in human serum and plasma.
      Key Applications
      • Single Molecule Counting (SMC®)
Application NotesThis new streamline kit has been improved with the following features while the kit performance is consistent with the legacy cTnI kit, #03-0092-00:
      • Improved options for sample prep and incubation
      • Lyophilization of the standard provides the kit at one storage condition
      • Removal of a plate transfer step
      • Overnight incubation IS NOT recommended for this kit
      • Increased reagent volumes to accommodate automation
      • Validated to run on both SMCxPRO™ and Erenna®
