A cell-permeable benzotriazole amide that counteracts and complements histone and tubulin deacetylase (HDAC and TDAC) inhibitors. Inhibits tubulin acetylation mediated by Trichostatin A, but not by Taxol. Through its successful use with TSA in vivo, it was shown that the expression of Rhodopsin-GFP transgene in Zebrafish eye is regulated via a mechanism involving reversible histone acetylation.

      Revision03-April-2008 RFH
      SynonymsInhibitor of Trichostatin A 1, N-(1H-Benzotriazol-1-yl)-2,4-dichlorobenzamide
DescriptionA cell-permeable, benzotriazole amide that counteracts and complements histone deacetylase (HDAC) and tubulin deacetylase (TDAC) inhibitors in elucidating mechanisms of inhibition and the role of acetylation in various cellular responses, such as transcription, differentiation, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. As a result of differential effects observed in A549 cells with ITSA1 on Trichostatin A (Cat. No. 647925) and taxol it has been confirmed that tubulin acetylation induced by these two inhibitors are mediated through different mechanisms in these cells. The administration of ITSA1 in combination with Trichostatin A in vivo demonstrated that the expression of a Rhodopsin-GFP transgene in the Zebrafish eye is regulated via a mechanism that involves reversible histone acetylation. Does not modify histone-acetyltransferases or affect levels of HDAC.
