Description
OverviewA cell-permeable thiostrepton (Cat. No. 598226) family macrocyclic peptide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis (IC50 = 250 nM) by interfering with rRNA binding. Shown to inhibit mammalian FoxM1 (forkhead box M1) function in C3 cells by negatively regulating its transcriptional activity (IC50 ≤5 µM), phosphorylation, as well as mRNA (>60% reduction at 10 µM) and protein (>90% reduction at 20 µM) abundance. Selectively induces apoptosis in SV40-transformed MRC-5 human fetal lung fibroblasts, but not the non-transformed wild-type cells.
