DescriptionSheep polyclonal antibody purified by DEAE ion-exchange chromatography. Recognizes the ~25 kDa SOD (Mn) protein.
BackgroundSuperoxide dismutase Mn enzyme (SOD (Mn)) is a homotetrameric metallo-enzyme of aerobic organisms, comprised of subunits of ~25 kDa. Localized primarily in the mitochondria, it serves to protect cells against the oxidative damage of free radicals by catalyzing the conversion of superoxide anions (O2-) to molecular oxygen (O2) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
