Phosphorus Pentoxide and SICAPENT® |
Phosphorus pentoxide is a powerful desiccant suitable for drying neutral and acid gases, saturated alipathic and aromatic hydrocarbons, nitriles, alkyl and acryl halogenides, and carbon disulfide. Merck offers di-phosphorus pentoxide in the grades “extra pure” and “for analysis ACS, ISO, Reag. Ph Eur”.
Moreover, we provide under the trade name SICAPENT® a granulated phosphorus pentoxide drying agent with indicator on inert carrier material that has been optimized for use in drying tubes and is particularly suitable to dry fast-flowing gases. The indicator helps to enhance your ease of use.
Thanks to its surface area, SICAPENT® adsorbs 20% more water within a given time than simple phosphorus pentoxide, and it preserves its free-flowing particle form even after significant water uptake (approx. 100% of its own weight). It can hence be easily removed after the drying process. These features make SICAPENT® particularly suitable for drying fast-flowing gases in drying tubes.
