Chromolith® Prep

Chromolith Prep ultra-pure stationary phases

Chromolith® Prep monolithic columns are ultra-pure silica stationary phases specially designed for high efficiency, high speed preparative chromatography. Based on the new sol-gel technology, the columns consist of a unique bimodal pore structure with macro- and mesopores.

Having an average diameter of 12 nm, the mesopores form the fine porous structure of the column interior, creating a very large surface area on which adsorption of target compounds can occur. The large macropores, with a diameter of 3 μm, form a dense network, which reduces resistance, thus allowing high flow rates.

The excellent accessibility of the mesopores (total porosity > 80%) and short diffusion length inside the pores ensure fast adsorption and desorption kinetics. As a result, Chromolith® Prep monolithic columns dramatically reduce separation times while increasing productivity.

Features and Benefits

  • Low pressure drop at a higher flow rate
  • High porosity assures fast adsorption and desorption kinetics
  • Shorter separation times and less solvent consumption compared to particulate sorbents
  • Higher productivity and greater efficiency compared to particulate sorbents
