Native, bovine basic fibroblast growth factor. A multi-functional factor with chemotactic activity for numerous cell types. Mitogenic to neuroectoderm- and mesoderm-derived cells. Plays a role in the proliferation of neuronal precursors and in neuronal differentiation. A potent angiogenic factor both in vivo and in vitro. Activates phospholipase D in endothelial cells.
