DescriptionAnti-Myosin XIX (Myo19) Antibody
Alternate Names
  • Myosin-XIX
  • Myosin head domain-containing protein 1
Background InformationMyosin XIX (Myo19) is the founding member of a novel class of myosin that associates with mitochondria. Both endogenous Myo19 and GFP-Myo19 exihibit localization to mitochondria. Myosins are actin-based motor molecules with ATPase activity. Myo19 is involved in actin-based mitochondrial motility. Myo19 mRNA is expressed in multiple tissues, and antibodies to human Myo19 detect an approximately 109 kDa band in multiple cell lines.

UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: Myosins are actin-based motor molecules with ATPase activity. Unconventional myosins serve in intracellular movements. Their highly divergent tails are presumed to bind to membranous compartments, which would be moved relative to actin filaments. MYO19 is involved in mitochondrial motility.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton. Mitochondrion outer membrane. Note: Probably associated with the outer membrane via its N-terminal mitochondrial targeting region. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Widely expressed in multiple tissues and cell lines.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Contains 2 IQ domains.

Contains 1 myosin head-like domain.

SEQUENCE CAUTION: The sequence BAD92272.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
