Special InstructionsWe recommend resuspending the lyophilized antibody with sterile PBS, pH 7.4, or sterile 20 mM Tris-saline (20 mM Tris containing 0.15 M NaCl), pH 7.4, to yield a final concentration of 100 µg/ml; product will be more stable if 0.1% sodium azide is included (do not add azide if antibody is to be used with viable cells). Lyophilized antibody should be resuspended at 4°C with occasional gentle mixing for at least 2 h. Following reconstitution, refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage (with azide) or aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for short-term storage.

DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody generated by immunizing RBF/Dn mice with the specified immunogen and fusing splenocytes with NS-1/FOX-NY mouse myeloma cells (see application references). Recognizes the α3 integrin subunit.
BackgroundThe integrins are a family of cell surface glycoproteins that mediate both cell-cell adhesion and cell-substratum interactions. They are heterodimers consisting of noncovalently associated and subunits. Recently, it has been shown that there are six distinct subunits, and that some subunits may be associated with more than one βchain. The β1 or VLA family of integrins has the largest number of members and share the common β1 subunit. Studies have indicated that different integrins function in various combinations to mediate cell adhesion in different tissues. The α3/β1 integrin, also termed VLA3 or CD49c, has been shown to interact primarily with secreted, laminin-containing extracellular matrix.
