DescriptionAnti-Toll-Interacting Protein (TOLLIP) Antibody
Alternate Names
  • toll interacting protein
  • Toll-interacting protein
  • adapter protein
Background InformationToll-interacting protein (TOLLIP) is a novel protein belonging to the tollip family of proteins and is comprised of a C2 domain and a CUE domain. It is involved in the signaling pathways for Toll-like receptors and IL-1 receptor, and serves to inhibit microbial product induced cell activation. TOLLIP interacts with IRAK1, forming a complex with the IL-1 receptor in resting cells. It is also a substrate for IRAK1 phosphorylation.

Species Reactivity NoteDemonstrated to react with human, mouse and rat.
Predicted to react with canine based on 100% sequence homology.
Antibody TypePolyclonal Antibody
Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThis gene encodes a ubiquitin-binding protein that interacts with several Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling cascade components. The encoded protein regulates inflammatory signaling and is involved in interleukin-1 receptor trafficking and in the turnover of IL1R-associated kinase. [supplied by RefSeq].
Gene Symbol
  • TOLLIP
Purification MethodAffinity Purfied
UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: Component of the signaling pathway of IL-1 and Toll-like receptors. Inhibits cell activation by microbial products. Recruits IRAK1 to the IL-1 receptor complex. Inhibits IRAK1 phosphorylation and kinase activity.

SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Oligomerizes. Binds to TLR2 and the TLR4-MD2 complex via its C-terminus. Exists as complex with IRAK1 in unstimulated cells. Upon IL-1 signaling, Tollip binds to the activated IL-1 receptor complex containing IL-1RI, IL-1RacP and the adapter protein MyD88, where it interacts with the TIR domain of IL-1RacP. MyD88 then triggers IRAK1 autophosphorylation, which in turn leads to the dissociation of IRAK1 from Tollip and IL-1RAcP. Interacts with TOM1L2.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm Probable.

PTM: Phosphorylated by IRAK1 upon stimulation by IL-1 or microbial products.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the tollip family.

Contains 1 C2 domain.

Contains 1 CUE domain.

SEQUENCE CAUTIOIN: The sequence BAB14283.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
Molecular Weight~32 kDa observed.
A non specific band may appear at ~80 kDa with the use of Tween.
