DescriptionAnti-PAR-3 Antibody, clone 8E8
Alternate Names
  • Proteinase-activated receptor 3
  • Coagulation factor II receptor-like 2
  • Thrombin receptor-like 2
Background InformationPAR-3 (also known as Coagulation factor II receptor-like 2, Thrombin receptor-like 2 or F2RL2) is an adapter protein involved in asymmetrical cell division and cell polarization processes. It seems to play a central role in the formation of epithelial tight junctions. Its association with PARD6B may prevent the interaction of PAR-3 with F11R/JAM1, thereby preventing tight junction assembly. The PARD6-PAR-3 complex links GTP bound Rho small GTPases to atypical protein kinase C proteins. PAR-3 interacts with PARD6A and PARD6B. Isoform 2, but not at least isoform 3 interacts with PRKCZ. PAR-3 interacts with PRCKI. PAR-3 forms part of a complex with PARD6A or PARD6B, PRKCI or PRKCZ and CDC42 or RAC1. PAR-3 interacts with F11R/JAM1. Antibodies against PAR-3 are present in sera from patients with cutaneous T cell lymphomas.

Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryCoagulation factor II (thrombin) receptor-like 2 (F2RL2) is a member of the large family of 7-transmembrane-region receptors that couple to guanosine-nucleotide-binding proteins. F2RL2 is also a member of the protease-activated receptor family and activated by thrombin. F2RL2 is activated by proteolytic cleavage of its extracellular amino terminus. The new amino terminus functions as a tethered ligand and activates the receptor. F2RL2 is a cofactor for F2RL3 activation by thrombin. It mediates thrombin-triggered phosphoinositide hydrolysis and is expressed in a variety of tissues. [provided by RefSeq].

  • F2RL2
  • PAR3
Purification MethodProtein G Purified
UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: Receptor for activated thrombin coupled to G proteins that stimulate phosphoinositide hydrolysis.

SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Interacts with INSC/inscuteable and probably GPSM2.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

TISSUE SPECIFICTY: Highest expression in the megakaryocytes of the bone marrow, lower in mature megakaryocytes, in platelets and in a variety of other tissues such as heart and gut. PTM: A proteolytic cleavage generates a new N-terminus that functions as a tethered ligand.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

SEQUENCE CAUTION: The sequence CAD97628.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at position 374.
