Recombinant, human HCV NS3/4A protease expressed in E. coli and purified by affinity chromatography using FPLC. HCV is a positive, single-stranded RNA virus of the Flaviviridae family that encodes a polyprotein precursor of about 3,000 amino acids. It is a common cause of chronic liver disease. HCV NS3/4A is an essential enzyme for viral replication. It is believed that HCV NS3/4A protease could play an important role in a treatment of hepatitis C infection.
