      DescriptionA potent antimicrobial agent that inhibits bacterial fatty acid synthesis by selectively targeting Fab l encoded enoyl-acyl carrier protein (ACP) reductase. A slow binding inhibitor that forms a stable ternary complex (bsFabl.NAD+. triclosan) in Bacillus subtilis. Also inhibits the growth of Plasmodium falciparum by inhibiting the apicomplexan Fab I (IC50 = 154.4 ng/ml for W2 strain and 387 ng/ml for D6 strain).
