Background InformationLeukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily B member 2 (UniProt Q8N423; also known as CD85 antigen-like family member D, CD85d, Ig-like transcript 4, ILT-4, Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor 2, LIR-2, MIR-10, Monocyte/macrophage immunoglobulin-like receptor 10) is encoded by the LILRB2 (also known as CD85D, ILT4, LIR2, MIR10) gene (Entrez Gene ID 10288) in human. CD85d belongs to the B class of leukocyte immunoglobulin-like (LIR) receptors family, members of which contain two or four extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and two to four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). Cd85d is expressed on immune cells and negatively regulates immune response by engaging class I MHC molecules (HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C) on antigen-presenting cells.
