DescriptionA heat-sensitive, water-soluble, free radical initiator that induces oxidative stress by causing cellular damage associated with lipid peroxidation, protein modification, hemoglobin oxidation, and DNA strand breakage. Reported to induce apoptosis in HL-60 cells via activation of caspase-3 by lysosomal cysteine proteases. Particularly useful in inducing cell death at hyperthermic temperatures.
