      DescriptionAnti-Sox-11 Antibody, clone 19B2
      Alternate Names
      • Transcription factor SOX-11
Background InformationTranscription factor SOX-11 (UniProt: Q7M6Y2; also known as Sox-11) is encoded by the Sox11 (also known as Sox-11) gene (Gene ID: 20666) in murine species. Sox-11 is a neural transcription factor that is involved in the embryonic neurogenesis and plays a role in tissue modeling during development, neuronal cell proliferation, and survival. Its expression is prominent in the periventricular cells of the central nervous system. It is also observed in a wide range of tissues involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions. Sox-11 activity is controlled by epigenetics and transcriptional mechanisms and by post-translational modifications. Its three highly conserved phosphorylation sites, serines 30, 133, and 137, surrounding the DNA-binding high-mobility group (MMG box), are reported to modulate its transcriptional activity. These sites are reported to be unique to Sox-11. Serine 133 is shown to be specifically phosphorylated by protein kinase A. Higher expression of Sox-11 has been shown in Mantle cell lymphoma. Mice deficient in Sox-11 display defects in multiple organs including the lung, heart, and pancreas. (Ref.: Balta, EA., et al. (2018). Sci. Rep. 8; 16196; Mozos, A., et al. (2009). Haematologica. 94(11); 1555-1562).
