      Revision26-July-2007 RFH
      ApplicationELISA (1:2000-1:5000)
DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody adsorbed against protein carriers and purified. Recognizes citrulline.
BackgroundCitrulline exists primarily in the liver, where it is heavily involved in the urea cycle to detoxify and excrete ammonia. This unusual amino acid is formed in the urea cycle by the transfer of a carbamoyl group to ornithine. Citrulline combines with aspartic acid to form arginosuccinic acid, which later is metabolized into the amino acid arginine. Citrulline is not a component of any major proteins or enzymes. Citrulline works along with aspartic acid, citric acid, and magnesium in helping to improve nitrogen metabolite excretion.
