FGF basic, a member of the FGF family of mitogenic peptides, is known to bind heparine or cell surface heparin sulfate proteoglycans for binding, dimerization, and activation of tyrosine kinase FGF receptors. Also known to bind polysaccharides, proteins, and lipids with lower affinity.
