DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~60 kDa GBA protein.
BackgroundAcid beta-glucosidase (GBA) is a lysosomal membrane protein that cleaves the beta-glucosidic linkage of glycosylceramide, an intermediate in glycolipid metabolism. It catalyzes the breakdown of the glycolipid glucosylceramide to ceramide and glucose. Mutations in this gene cause Gaucher disease, a lysosomal storage disease characterized by an accumulation of glucocerebrosides.
