Analysis Note

Control
Rat or Human oligodendrocyte precursor cells
Evaluated by Immunocytochemistry in rat oligodendrocyte precursor cells.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution of this antibody detected NG2 in rat oligodendrocyte precursor cells. Performed without Triton.

Application

Anti-NG2 Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan, Cy3 Conjugate Antibody is an antibody against NG2 Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan for use in ICC & IHC.
Research Category
Neuroscience
Research Sub Category
Neurodegenerative Diseases

Biochem/physiol Actions

This antibody identifies the intact proteoglycan and core protein by WB and ELISA. When oligodendrocyte precursor cells (i.e. O-2A progenitor cells) are stained alive, the stain appears as clusters on the cell surface. This antibody does not stain differentiated oligodendrocytes well.

General description

NG2 is a high molecular weight, integral membrane chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan. It is found on the surfaces of an unusual class of glial cells within the developing and mature central nervous system that have the properties of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (i.e., O-2A progenitor cells). NG2 is also found on the surfaces of chondroblasts, proliferating capillary endothelial cells, some human melanoma cell lines, and on leukemic blasts in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The NG2 proteoglycan is likely to play a role in regulation of cell motility, axon outgrowth and the cellular responses to platelet-derived growth factor.
The unconjugated parent antibody (Cat. No. AB5320) has an observed molecular weight at ~270-300 kDa

Immunogen

Immunoaffinity purified NG2 Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan from rat

Physical form

Protein A purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal conjugated to Cy3 in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 15 mg/mL BSA.
