      Background InformationSYNC1 is an intermediate structural protein important in muscle cell function and metabolism. In skeletal muscle, SYNC1 localizes with desmin and Dystrobrevin alpha , and is localized at the myotendinous and neuromuscular junctions, sarcolemma and Z-lines. In myotubes, SYNC1 is detected in a punctate cytoplasmic pattern and is up regulated in various forms of neuromuscular diseases.
