DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody supplied as undiluted serum. Recognizes full-length APP and C-terminal soluble products CTFγ (~6 kDa), CTFα (~9 kDa), and CTFβ (~11 kDa).
BackgroundAmyloid precursor protein (APP) is a type I integral membrane protein with a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail. APP is cleaved by alpha-secretase to generate sAPPα and CTFα, which is the C-terminal membrane, associated product of α-secretase cleavage. α-secretase cleaves in the Aβ domain. β-secretase cleavage of APP at the N-terminal end of the Aβ sequence results in sAPPβ and CTFβ. Both CTFα and CTFβ are cleaved at the C-terminal end of the Aβ transmembrane domain to generate CTFγ. The antibody (171610) detects CTFγ fragment, which migrates at about 6 kDa on SDS-PAGE gels.
