Our Safety Data Sheets enable customers of our chemical products to take the necessary measures relating to protection of human health and safety at the workplace, and protection of the environment.
Safety Data Sheets include information such as physical and chemical, toxicological and ecological properties, health effects, first aid measures, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, accidental release measures. Merck provides Safety Data Sheets on all hazardous chemical products in more than 35 languages and in accordance with the relevant national regulations and requirements.
As of December 1, 2010 all Safety Data Sheets of hazardous substances are provided according to the requirements of CLP (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, adopting GHS) and Annex II of REACH (Regulation (EC) 1907/2006). Where legally required, the SDS contains an Annex with exposure scenarios.
The SDS follows a 16 section format with mandatory subsections in accordance to the UN guidelines.
As of December 1, 2012, all Safety Data Sheets of mixtures have to follow the same 16 section format with mandatory subsections as defined by REACH.
As of June 1, 2015, all Safety Data Sheets for mixtures have to cover the elements for classification and labeling according to CLP.
