Overexpression of MDM2 is characteristic of many tumors. IT MDM2 is a nuclear phosphoprotein that inhibits transactivation by p52. MDM2’s principal function is the ubiquitination and degradation of p53 tumor suppressor protein. MDM2 affects tumorigenesis, apoptosis, and the cell cycle.
