Apoptosis/Cell Death
The ability to elude programmed cell death (apoptosis) is a hallmark of most types of cancer. EMD Millipore’s cell-based assays for apoptosis include our best-selling and well-published ApopTag® family of In Vivo TUNEL assays and CaspaTag™ family of In Situ Caspase detection assays to help researchers interrogate the fine balance between cell survival and death.

Cell Migration/Invasion
Metastasis is the cumulative result of multiple changes in tumor cells and their
microenvironment that enable cells to migrate or invade into healthy host tissue. EMD Millipore’s vast portfolio of migration, invasion, chemotactic and haptotactic Boyden Chamber assays enable researchers to simulate the barriers invaded by and conditions encountered by metastatic tumor cells in vivo.

Angiogenesis & Endothelial Transmigration
The development of new vascular networks (angiogenesis) is a necessary component of tumor growth and metastasis. Of similar importance, the ability of immune cells to migrate through newly formed vasculature is a key component of the host’s immune response to cancer. EMD Millipore provides various cell-based assays to both interrogate endothelial tube formation and evaluate the effects of chemicals and drugs on endothelial monolayer adsorption, transport, and permeability.

Cell Adhesion
The mechanism by which cells bind to one another and to the extracellular matrix (ECM) is regulated by a large family of transmembrane receptors. Cell adhesion plays a critical role in cell growth, differentiation, survival, motility, as well as a necessary component of tumor metastasis. EMD Millipore provides a family of whole cell adhesion arrays to help interrogate the roles that integrins and ECM proteins play in normal and abnormal cell adhesion.
