Background InformationPRDM1/Blimp1 is a repressor of beta-interferon gene expression. In the nucleus, PRDM1 is known to bind specifically with the Beta-interferon gene positive regulatory domain I (PRDI), and to interact with PRMT5. During B-cell differentiation, PRDM1 actively represses the transcription of the gene, c-myc, through binding its promoter and has been deemed a “master regulator” for terminal B-cell differentiation, as it is able to initiate the BCL1 cell developmental cascade. The transcription of this gene is increased upon virus infection.
