Overview

At every stage of the drug discovery process samples must be isolated, purified and prepared prior to testing. In today's fast paced environment, rapid, automated and simple sample preparation is a must. MultiScreen plates offer diverse and versatile formats for a variety of preparative methods.

Removal of Large Particulates and Cellular Debris

Use glass fiber plates for clarification of cellular debris or heavily particle-laden solutions. Plates are available in glass fiber B and C. These plates are capable of clarifying up to 2.5 x 106 cells or 1.25 mg of precipitated protein without fouling. Coating protocols are also available to minimize non-specific binding of protein and DNA.

Bead & Resin-Based Separations

MultiScreenHTS filter plates with Durapore PVDF membrane provide a low-binding, inert support for resin/bead-based separations. Plates are available in several pore sizes. Choose one that works for your resin size. Multiscreen filter plates with 1.2µm Durapore membranes are most commonly used with Luminex bead assays. When used in conjunction with MultiScreen Column Loaders, Durapore plates provide an economical means to produce 96 resin-filled mini-columns suitable for a variety of separations. Plates are compatible with several LC and HPLC media including Sephadex®, Dowex®, silica, and alumina. Once loaded, these plates are ideal for a wide range of high throughput sample preparations.

Solvent Applications

MultiScreen Solvinert filter plates are designed for broad solvent compatibility. In addition to chemically compatible materials of construction, the plates incorporate a unique one-piece design to eliminate leaking and allow for extended incubations. In addition, the plates are automation compatible to provide maximum sample preparation throughput.

To accommodate use with aqueous and non-aqueous samples, MultiScreen Solvinert filter plates – in deep well and standard well volumes – are available with a choice of either chemically resistant hydrophobic or hydrophilic PTFE membranes.

Protein Concentration and Purification

MultiScreen Ultracel ultrafiltration plates are available for biopreparative applications requiring concentration of dilute protein solutions or removal of proteins from serum or plasma samples.

Ultracel plates feature high recovery Ultracel-10, 10,000 NMWL membrane (regenerated cellulose) for maximum sample recovery. The hydrophilic, tight microstructure of the Ultracel membrane assures the highest possible retention with the lowest possible adsorption of protein or other macromolecules. The membrane is rated at greater than 95% retention of Cytochrome c (12,500 daltons) and greater than 99.5% retention of serum albumin.
