      Biological Information
ImmunogenA 19 amino acid peptide sequence near the C-terminus of rat/human/mouse MCT4.
ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
      HostRabbit
SpecificityRecognizes rat Monocarboxylate Transporter 4 (MCT4/MOT4/ SLC16A3). The immunogen shows no significant sequence homology with other MCT. MCT4 is prominently expressed in skeletal muscle and other cells with high glycolytic rate such as tumors cells and white blood cells suggesting an important role in lactic acid efflux.

Note: According to new nomenclature, the old MCT3 has now been reclassified as MCT4. Consult Halestrap and Price (1999) Biochem. J. 343:281-299.

      SPECIES REACTIVITIES:

Rat. The immunogen sequence is 100% conserved in human and mouse and 78% conserved in chicken. Reactivity with other species has not been confirmed.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryLactic acid and pyruvate transport across plasma membranes is catalyzed by members of the proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) family, which has been designated solute carrier family-16. Each MCT appears to have slightly different substrate and inhibitor specificities and transport kinetics, which are related to the metabolic requirements of the tissues in which it is found. The MCTs, which include MCT1 (SLC16A1; MIM 600682) and MCT2 (SLC16A7; MIM 603654), are characterized by 12 predicted transmembrane domains (Price et al., 1998 [PubMed 9425115]).[supplied by OMIM]
