      • Western Blotting
      • Immunohistochemistry
      • Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
Application NotesImmunohistochemistry on frozen sections: 1:50.

Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin-embedded sections: 1:50 on paraffin-embedded tissue sections fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin or Fekete’s acid-alcohol-formalin following trypsin digestion antigen retrieval (Mikaelian et al., 2004).

      Western blotting: 1:500.

ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
      HostMouse
SpecificityThe antibody reacts with the 64 kDa polypeptide (cytokeratin 3; Keratin K3) of corneal epithelium and keratin K76 (cytokeratin K2p) of palate epithelium. As such this represents an excellent marker for studying corneal epithelial-type differentiation. Also recognizes bovine snout and lip epithelium, as well as a rabbit corneal cell line.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. This type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the corneal epithelium with family member KRT12 and mutations in these genes have been associated with Meesmanns Corneal Dystrophy. The type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13.
