Background InformationBreast cancer anti-estrogen resistance protein 3 (BCAR3), also known as Novel SH2-containing protein 2 (NSP2) and SH2 domain-containing protein 3B (SH2D3B) is an adapter protein that regulates the proliferation in breast cancer cells. BCAR3 may also be regulated by cellular adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins. BCAR3 is found in several cancer cell lines; however, it is not found in nonmalignant breast tissue. When BCAR3 is overexpressed, it confers anti-estrogen resistance in breast cancer cell lines.
