DescriptionPurified mouse monoclonal generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with the specified immunogen and fusing splenocytes with P3X63 Ag8.653 myeloma cells (see application references). Conjugated to agarose. Recognizes the ~60 kDa Src protein.
BackgroundThe major translational product of the avian sarcoma virus has been designated pp60src. Avian sarcoma virus pp60src possesses a characteristic protein kinase activity with specificity for tyrosine residues. The mammalian cellular homologue of pp60src, designated pp60c-src, exhibits a similar protein tyrosine kinase activity which can be activated by interaction with polyoma virus-encoded middle T antigen. Immunoprecipitates of middle T antigen also contain phosphatidylinositol kinase activity coinciding with the presence of a 81 kDa (p81) protein. The p81 is phosphorylated by activated pp60c-src and is thought to be the phosphatidylinositol kinase.
