      Synthetic, human secretin. A strongly basic gastrointestinal peptide hormone that stimulates the secretion of bicarbonate-rich pancreatic fluid. Causes a dose-dependent increase in cAMP-accumulation in pancreatic duct cell lines (mean effective concentration = 15 nm). Increases plasma membrane chloride permeability.
