Recombinant, human SIRT2 (amino acids 50-356) fused at the C-terminus to a His•Tag® sequence and expressed in E. coli. SIRT2 is a member of the class III histone deacetylase family and its activity is dependent on the co-factor, NAD+, which is cleaved during the deacetylation reaction. Sirtuins also possess an ADP-ribosyltransferase activity, that is unique to the class III HDACs. The active deacetylase is useful in the study of SIRT2 regulation and inhibitor screening.
