DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody adsorbed against non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the immunogen phosphorylation site, followed by immunoaffinity chromatography. Recognizes the ~130 kDa JAK2 protein.
BackgroundJanus Kinase 2 (JAK2) belongs the the JAK family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases. The JAK family consists of four members, JAK1, JAK2, JAK3, and TYK2. Ligand binding to a variety of cell surface receptors, like cytokine and growth factor receptors, results in the association and subsequent activtion of JAK kinases via phosphorylation. Activated JAK proteins, in turn, phosphorylate members of the Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription (STAT) family of transcription factors. In the JAK2 domain, there is a region that has considerable sequence homology to the regulatory region of the insulin receptor and contains two tyrosines, Tyr1007 and Tyr1008, that are key phoshorylation/regulatory sites.
