      Description
OverviewA cell-permeable, anti-microbial tropolone analog that acts as an effective chelator of Fe3+/Fe2+, Zn2+, and Mg2+. Serves as a metalloprotease inhibitor. Also acts as a reversible inhibitor of 12-lipoxygenase in platelets (IC50 = 100 nM). Reported to strongly inhibit the active respiration in isolated rat liver mitochondria. Inhibits DNA synthesis, induces differentiation and apoptosis in F9 embryonal carcinoma cells.
