DescriptionBioTracker™ Red pH-Independent Autophagy Live Cell Probe
OverviewThe small fluorescent molecule SCT277 is used to detect autophagosomes and autolysosomes. The presumed mechanism is that the dye is incorporated into the autophagosome during double-membrane formation via structural features, and then emits fluorescence under hydrophobic conditions. The probe emits in the far red range.

      SPECTRAL CHARACTERISTICS:
      Excitation λ: 530 nm
      Emission λ: 720 nm
      Alternate Names
      • red autophagy probe
      • autophagosome live cell probe
      • red autophagosome probe
      • red AP live cell probe
Background InformationBioTracker Red pH-Independent Autophagy Live Cell Probe detects autophagosomes and autolysosomes. The presumptive mechanism involves incorporation of the probe via structural features into the autophagosome during double-membrane formation. Upon incorporation, the probe emits fluorescence under hydrophobic conditions. The utility of the probe is conferred by molecular properties that include cell permeability, does not require transfection, and enables live cell detection with fluorescence microscopy or other fluorescence capture instruments.

Application NotesSCT277 detects autophagosomes and autolysosomes by the likely mechanism of incorporation into the autophagosome during double membrane formation, and emits red fluorescence under hydrophobic conditions. SCT277 is cell permeable, does not require transfection, and enables live cell imaging with fluorescence microscopy and quantitative assay by flow cytometry.

Add 50 uL DMSO to tube of SCT277 (5 nmol) and pipet to dissolve to make a 0.1 mM stock solution. Dilute with culture medium to 0.1 - 0.5 uM to make working solution.
